What a HOMIDEC build is made of

The frames, the panels, the connectors, and the line between what is specified and what is not claimed.

The frames

Strength in a HOMIDEC build lives in steel. The desks, clothes racks and wardrobes stand on powder-coated steel tube; the wire-cube units are steel grid panels throughout; the cube organizers run steel connecting frames behind their panels. Rated loads, where the maker states them, are printed on each model's page and nowhere inflated: a hanging rail specified to 60 lb is described as exactly that.

The panels

The cube organizers and shoe cabinets close with engineered PP panels: light, wipeable and easy to wipe down. This is the reason a 16-cube wall costs two figures and carries upstairs in one trip, and it is also why we do not describe any of it as wood. The clear shoe boxes are hard transparent plastic with ventilation and magnetic doors, specified to fit up to a US men's 12.

The connectors and the hammer

Cube builds assemble on ball-and-socket connectors seated with the included rubber hammer. Fully seated connectors are most of the frame's stiffness, and that is the reason the hammer ships in the box rather than being a suggestion. Racks and desks take ordinary hand tools and under an hour.

The duty that comes with height

Any build taller than a bench should be anchored to the wall, and heavy things belong in the low bays. That is the American Academy of Pediatrics' tip-over guidance, and we would rather repeat it here than have it discovered the hard way. Source: American Academy of Pediatrics, read 2026-08-07.

What the material is

Steel frames and PP panels, not hardwood: light enough to move between rooms and to rebuild into another shape, priced accordingly, and not meant to be handed down. The figures on this page are kept current on the schedule described in how we keep this site honest.
